Middle School Track and Field Competes in First Two Meets of the Year

On Tuesday April 7th the Belle Fourche Middle School track and field team had their long awaited for first competition after a cancellation of their first scheduled meet due to inclement weather. The weather Tuesday was fantastic for a track meet with sunny skies and temps in the 60s. The middle schoolers competed in a Quad with Sturgis Williams, Stagebarn, Enning/ Union Center and Lead-Deadwood.

Many athletes had top results in their first meet of the season with results as follows:

7th grade boys: Kellen Williams placed 2nd in the 100 and in the 200 meter dash, Parker Martin placed 3rd in the 400 meter dash, Maddox Clarkson placed 1st and Keaton Davis placed 2nd in the 1600 meter run, Blake Willert placed 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles and 5th in the 200 meter hurdles, Maddox Clarkson placed 3rd in the high jump, Parker Martin placed 2nd and Grady Martin placed 4th in the long jump.

8th grade boys: Ben Raba placed 6th, Cole Mailloux placed 7th and Bradly Dreiske placed 8th in the 100 meter dash, Blaine Moke placed 5th, Cole Mailloux placed 6th and Devyn Perchbacher placed 9th in the 200 meter dash, Bradley Dreiske placed 1st in the 400 meter dash, Brux Hartman placed 1st and Cade Pearson tied for 3rd in the 800 meter run, Brux Hartman placed 1st in the 1600 meter run, Ben Raba placed 2nd, Oaklee Atkins placed 6th, and Oliver Carson placed 9th in shot put, Ben Raba placed 3rd ad Oaklee Atkins placed 10th in discus, Elijah Beatson placed 1st, Zane Baker placed 4th and Brux Hartman tied for 7th in high jump, Blain Moke placed 4th and Elijah Beatson placed 5th in long jump.

7th grade girls: Emersyn Carmichael placed 1st, AnnaBelle Dighton placed 4th, Natalie Cvatch placed 5th and Charlie Huston placed 10th in the 100 meter dash, Charlie Huston placed 3rd and Natalie Cvach placed 7th in the 200 meter dash, Emersyn Carmichael placed 1st and AnnaBelle Dighton placed 3rd in the 400 meter dash, Aubyn Hartman placed 2nd and Gracie Hodge placed 9th in the 800 meter run, Aubyn Hartman placed 1st and Gracie Hodge placed 2nd in the 1600 meter run, Ruth Moore placed 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles and 2nd in the 200 meter hurdles, Annabelle Dighton placed 2nd, Emersyn Carmichael placed 3rd and Charlie Huston placed 5th in the high jump, Emersyn Carmichael placed 4th, Charlie Huston placed 5th, Jacey Nash placed 6th and Adilynn Burke tied for 8th in the long jump.

8th grade girls: Skylar Randolph placed 4th in the 100 meter dash and 3rd in the 400 meter dash, Isabela Torberson placed 2nd in the 800 meter run and 1st in the 1600 meter run, Lux Kirstine placed 6th and Kimber Mez placed 7th in the 100 meter hurdles, Elise Roberts placed 6th, Kimber Mez placed 7th and Adeline Humbracht placed 8th in the 200 meter hurdles, and Chloe Shulze placed 4th in the long jump.

On Saturday in Spearfish the Broncs competed against 16 teams including Spearfish, Custer, Douglas, Enning/Union Center, Harding County, Hermosa, Hill City, Hot Springs, Lead-Deadwood, Newell, Rapid City Christian, St Thomas More, Sturgis Williams, Stagebarn, and Wall. With more competition and other teams seeing their first meets of the year placing varied at this meet. A number of 8th grade athletes were out this week as they embarked on the Math and Science Club trip to Florida.

The middle school team competes next on Friday April 17th at home at the Belle Fourche High School beginning at 9am weather permitting.
