BELLE FOURCHE—After a three and a half year renovation project, the historic house, Bluebelle Vacation Home, officially opened with a ribbon cutting on August 15. Being joined by both Belle Fourche Chamber of Commerce and Spearfish Chamber of Commerce made the ceremony extra special—as did fresh baked goods from Red Onion Marketplace!
Bluebelle was first built in 1915 and has classic turn-of-the-century charm but incorporates all of the modern day comforts. When you walk into the spacious living area you are met with muted golden yellow color on the walls that perfectly matches shades of yellow in the beautifully restored stained glass windows. Impeccably decorated and boasting five bedrooms and two bathrooms, there is space for everyone. Stained glass windows can be found on the second floor along with a balcony and a sitting room. It will easily sleep 11 people.
Owner, Char Gamble, gave tours to everyone that came to the ribbon cutting. She also hosted an open house on Saturday, August 16. “I’m hoping that with everyone seeing it, they’ll decide—wow, it’s nice here—I would have my family stay here,” she said.
After seeing the house on the market for a while, Gamble was really drawn to the property. She decided that it wouldn’t be a good fit for her to live in, as she has animals and the home is very close to the highway. But then she came up with the perfect plan!
“What can I do with it? And I thought—well, Belle doesn’t really have a property like this and I knew that I could make it beautiful. It would just take time,” explained Gamble. “I just didn’t know it would take three and a half years! It’s worked out all right, but it has taken longer than I expected—some road blocks, but I think it’s come out beautiful!”
It is Gamble’s goal to be one of the go-to destinations for visitors coming to Belle Fourche. “I hope that when people come to Belle they think of Bluebelle as the place to stay. I just don’t think that we have anything like this property in our town,” shared Gamble.
After her years of hard work, Gamble says she is excited to finally get some rest! If you would like more information about Bluebelle you can find it at bluebellesd.com.
