State Street Toasts the Start of Summer

BELLE FOURCHE—Businesses in downtown Belle Fourche were open late to provide a special evening of shopping, wine pairing and camaraderie. Merchants from across Belle Fourche partnered with State Street shops to come together and treat area residents to a memorable night at the second Wine Up on State Street—Spring Into Summer—on May 29.

As visitors walked up and down State Street, Wine Up on State Street signs invited them into the businesses that were open and participating in the event. Crowds of people could be seen walking from place to place throughout the evening.

Inside each store, businesses had tables set up with wine samples and tasty treats to pair with the drinks. Each business selected the wine it offered and the food to accompany it.

Some stores hosted business owners who wanted to participate in the event, but whose businesses were located farther away from State Street. For example, when visitors walked into Pasque Ladies Fashion, they not only sampled wine and food pairings curated by the shop, but were also greeted by Dinosaurs of the Hell Creek Museum and SME Treats, each with its own wine and food offerings.

A total of 26 businesses participated in the event. To help attendees find their way, event planners created a State Street map showing the locations of all participating businesses. A wine journal was also created to guide attendees along their tasting journey and give them a way to keep track of the flavors they enjoyed.

There was every kind of wine imaginable, and probably some attendees did not even know they would like. There was Moscato, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Riesling and everything in between. From dry to sweet to bubbly, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Tickets went on sale May 9 for $25 and increased to $30 after May 22. Tote bags were given to the first 50 people who purchased tickets.

Businesses that participated included Petes Clothing, Pasque Ladies Fashions, Dinosaurs of the Hell Creek Museum, SME Treats, Cowboys TOO!, Redwater Meats, Circle Lounge, Hair Gallery, Prairie Hills Pharmacy, 612 Emporium, Moxie Marketing, Quality Quick Print, Love That Shoppe, Elizabeth Anns Bridal, Black Hills Curio Co., Ankes Bakery, Hitching Post Tap House, Pearson Block Candy Shop, Pearson Block Hous, Red Onion Marketplace, Belle Flowers + Co., Gentle Touch Chiropractic, Sowers Dry Cleaners and Posy Palace.
