Community Teamwork Makes Intersection Safer

BELLE FOURCHE—Finding small ways to leave a big impact is what happens when United Way and Monument Health team up in Belle Fourche. A few members gathered together to take care of some arising community needs on the morning of Saturday, May 16.

On the corner of 13th and Dacar, the trees were becoming overgrown and obstructing the view on the corner. This was a problem that a few helpful local volunteers were eager to address. Clint Haffner, Nikki Hoyme, Suzanne Campbell, and Vernon Talkington gathered to trim and cut down branches in order to make the intersection more visually friendly to all those who drive along the streets.

The crew used the chainsaw skills of Monte Talkington on this project. Residents from the area are very pleased with the work and stopped by the working volunteers to thank them during the project. Even those on foot who walk the area on a regular basis appreciated the work and said it made a difficult intersection much safer.
