BELLE FOURCHE—A celebration to honor all of the exciting growth that Belle Fourche has had over the past year was part of the agenda for the Annual Membership Meeting of the Belle Fourche Development Corporation on the evening of January 15.
Social hour followed by a buffet dinner was served up at the Branding Iron Steakhouse. After both glasses and stomachs were full, the business meeting was called to order by Board President Wendy Bowers. “I want to thank all of you for joining us—it’s always nice to see such a great turnout,” she said. “Belle Fourche is a growing community with so much to celebrate! Community Economic Development requires strong leadership and relationships working together towards common goals!”
Current board members were recognized while three nominations for three open positions on the Board of Directors were offered. All three candidates were automatically added to the board. Levi Buck will be serving his third term on the board, Karen Wagner will be extending the 13 years she has given to the board and the third addition to the board is a new, first-year board member, Trevor Kapsch.
Belle Fourche Economic Development Executive Director Hollie Stalder led the membership through a community update explaining the status of the community partnerships with City of Belle Fourche, Butte County, Butte County Railroad Authority, Belle Fourche School System, Belle Fourche Chamber of Commerce and NeighborWorks Dakota Home Resources.
Special Recognition was given to one community member. Stalder explained, “When we think of housing in Belle Fourche, one name is synonymous with commitment to our goals for home ownership, he’s not afraid to challenge the status quo nor extenuating circumstances when it comes to helping people tackle home ownership obstacles… Mike Walker, thank you for making a difference in Belle Fourche, your work to date and the work ahead is no small feat!”
2025 welcomed over 20 new businesses to the Belle Fourche area. Those businesses were introduced and honored. Each one received a special certificate. The businesses honored include: BC Excavation, Bluebelle SD Vacation Home, Breakfast Club, SodaK Shops, Buck N’ Broncs Car Wash, CBH CO-OP Pellet Plant, Dinosaurs of the Hell Creek Museum, Elizabeth Ann’s Bridal, Epiphany Mental Health, Falina Selchert Real Estate Advisor, Highland Senior Solutions, iLevel Construction, Leaf It To Me, Little Leaps of Faith Christian Preschool, Pearson Block House, Pearson Block Candy Shop, Rising Hope Counseling, The Rustic C Boutique, Smokes N’ Sips, Stampede Plumbing & Heating, Tats N Tees and The Homestead Store.
