“The Polar Express” Holiday Trolley Tour Lights Up Belle Fourche for Sixth Year

Belle Fourche News Other Local News

Belle Fourche once again embraced the spirit of the season with its annual Holiday Trolley Tour, known as “The Polar Express,” marking the sixth year of the festive community event that showcases Christmas lights throughout town.

The event, hosted by the Belle Fourche Chamber of Commerce, brought residents and visitors together for an evening of holiday cheer, local pride, and friendly competition.

Passengers boarded the trolley at COWBOYS TOO!, where Slade Hansen served as the trolley conductor, welcoming guests aboard for the illuminated journey through Belle Fourche neighborhoods.

Guiding the route was Chamber Executive Director Michaela Horn, who rode along as the trolley’s navigator, pointing out decorated homes and helping set the festive tone for the evening.

Each passenger received a ballot to vote for their favorite holiday light display, adding an interactive element to the tour.

Horn also expressed her appreciation for the local businesses that help make the event possible, noting that “this community favorite wouldn’t happen without the support of our businesses. It’s a charming way to enjoy the holiday spirit with our neighbors.”

Northern Hills Credit Union proudly sponsored this year’s event. Representatives Kip Wagner, Mel Schmidt, and Cassie Pannone were on hand to pass out goodie bags to passengers, adding an extra touch of generosity and holiday warmth.

“The Polar Express” Holiday Trolley Tour is a ticketed event.

The 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. rides are sold out, while adult tickets for the 7:00 p.m. ride remain available. A waiting list is being maintained for the sold-out rides.

Originally scheduled as a twonight event, the Friday evening tour was canceled due to a winter storm that brought snow and extremely low temperatures.

Organizers have announced that the canceled night will be rescheduled and held at the same location and times on Friday, December 19th.

Now in its sixth year, “The Polar Express” Holiday Trolley Tour continues to be a cherished Belle Fourche tradition—bringing neighbors together, celebrating creativity, and showcasing the festive spirit that defines the community during the Christmas season.
