BELLE FOURCHE—Fundraising for the continuation of the services Belle Silver Lining provides to the community is always ongoing and vital for the survival of the center.
The fundraising activities are fun and always seem to allow for the public to participate in some way. The most recent fundraising event was a spaghetti feed held at the Moose Lodge on the evening of October 11.
Over 100 people heard that call and showed up to support the senior center while indulging in spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread and a variety of desserts for a free will donation. Board members, volunteers and employees of the Belle Silver Lining were on hand to cook, donate and serve food, drinks and keep things moving along. Members of the Moose also helped out with the event and donated desserts to the cause. Kimberlie Selle greeted people and kept count of those that participated.
Everyone who came was invited to stay and enjoy darts and cornhole, as well as drinks from the bar and music for the entire evening.
This was the first time Belle Silver Lining held a Spaghetti Feed. “The Moose wanted to join in and do something together, so we decided a spaghetti feed would be good,” explained Mary Riley, Events Coordinator.
Belle Silver Lining offers a place for seniors to gather to play cards, games, educational information, activities, watch movies, chair yoga, plus many more activities in addition to food service. The mission of the organization is helping seniors pursue active, meaningful and healthy lives with informational, social, intellectual and wellness services.
If you missed the Spaghetti Feed but are interested in helping out in any way, Belle Silver Lining is in need of volunteers to help out in a variety of ways. Donations of turkeys are being accepted until November 20.
Look for the organization’s table at the Belle Rec Center’s Halloween Spooktacular on October 31 and of course, mark your calendar for their annual fundraiser Chili Feed at the Belle Fourche Community Hall on Friday, November 28. “The next fundraiser is the Chili Feed during the Parade of Lights,” said Riley. “It’s already planned out! We’re going to have Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus and a photographer and the Cowboy Band is going to play and the chili feed is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.!”
