New Chapter Begins After 28 Years at Pete’s Clothing

BELLE FOURCHE—Last week brought a bittersweet send off for a long-time employee of Pete’s Clothing and Western Wear, when the store hosted a going away party for Shannon Davis on August 21.

At the young age of 21, Davis began working for Pete’s, and for most of those years it has been her main workplace. “It has been my only job for 28 years— well I guess I should say that, because I waited tables for Todd at the Prime Time and American West off and on—but this has been my main full-time job,” she shared.

During the number of years that she has worked there, Davis worked her way up the ladder. She started as a sales clerk, and is leaving a Manager.

Staying at Pete’s for the past 28 years was an easy decision for Davis. “I absolutely loved it. I loved everything about it. I loved the people, I loved clothes, I loved the interactions I had—I’ve been blessed,” Davis explained. “I had the world’s best bosses! I loved the people, and I truly loved what I did! Everything, every day was different—I got to meet new people, the people I met became my friends and my family! I just truly loved what I did!”

After waking up and going to work at the same place year after year, it will take some time for Davis to get used to changing that routine. “It’s going to feel really weird, it’s going to feel really strange—it’s going to be very bittersweet,” said Davis.

As that chapter of her life comes to an end for Davis, a new one starts. And for her it starts immediately! “I’m moving this weekend and then I start my new job on Tuesday,” she said. Her new job will take her to an office setting as she will be a Customer Service Representative at Dakota Bank in Bison.

Davis has two grown children that both graduated from Belle Fourche High School.

As she leaves the area, Davis knows she will miss it—perhaps some things more than others. “I’m going to miss my bosses and I’m going to miss my customers,” shared Davis. “My co-workers are fantastic—she’s more like a sister than a co-worker! I’m gonna miss my family here at the store.”
