BELLE FOURCHE—Buck N’ Broncs Car Wash opened its doors to the community on August 20 as it joined Highmark Credit Union and the Belle Fourche Chamber of Commerce in hosting the August Chamber Mixer.
The three businesses worked together to make the evening a memorable one for everyone who attended. Buck N’ Broncs Car Wash provided the location for the event, opening a big wash bay, filling it with tables and chairs and even setting up a bouncy house for the kids. There were coolers of cold drinks and a table with extras like watermelon. Highmark Credit Union provided the food and welcomed Rollin in the Hills food truck to the event. The food truck served up both sweet and savory egg rolls with a variety of tasty dipping sauces to enjoy.
The Car Wash just opened for business last November and is still in its first year. So far, things are going well for them. Chris Bergman, owner, shared, “It’s good—it’s really great. It’s all been going really smooth, we’ve gotten to know a lot of good people around Belle Fourche and we’ve had a lot of good fun up here!”
The Bergman family enjoys hosting community events. It is something they strive to do each year at all of their Car Wash facilities. “Actually, we do one—we’ve done one in every town, so we just always try to get involved in the community and it’s fun to see all the people that came out. It was a good turnout—we always try to be involved in the community,” he explained.
As an incentive to encourage Chamber members to attend the monthly Mixer, a drawing called the Connect and Collect has been held regularly for over a year without a winner.
All of the business names that are members of the Belle Fourche Chamber of Commerce are written on slips of paper and tossed into a large plastic bin. At the end of each Mixer, a business name is drawn. The winner receives a cash prize. The catch is whoever is drawn must be present at the Mixer to win the money.
Month after month, names have been drawn and the winner hasn’t been present. The cash pot rolls over to the next month. But for the past two months, the Executive Director has added a second opportunity to win. The first drawing is for the entire amount of the pot, and if no one wins, a second drawing is held for half of the pot.
The Connect and Collect cash pot is currently $420. “If you are new—if you are a Chamber Member, your name is in the pot for our Connect and Collect—the pot is up to $420,” explained Michaela Horn, Director. “If somebody is not drawn in the first drawing, we’re going to draw again for half of the pot, for $210, and then I really want you guys to win, so we’re gonna draw again for $50—hopefully we get a winner. All right, so for $420—there are some of you that have been to every Mixer and I’m really pulling for you guys!”
Belle Estates was the first name drawn, and there was no one from that business at the Mixer. So a second-chance drawing for $210 was held, and Made in the Shade was drawn. Finally, there was a representative from that business at the meeting! The lucky winner took home $210 for simply coming to take part in the Mixer. The Connect and Collect pot will be $210 next month!
Come out to the next Chamber Mixer for your chance to win the other half of the pot! The September Chamber Mixer will be hosted by Elizabeth Ann’s Bridal on September 17 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to join.
