Newell News Other Local News

NEWELL—The Community Cowboys for Christ Church service was officially underway on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the Ram Sale Building in Newell, South Dakota. It was a great way to kick off the Newell Labor Day festivities.

Fred Wilson opened the event with a welcome, and there were numerous churches involved that had discussed some upcoming events. Bill Woods spoke about what Cowboys for Christ is and how he got involved.

Vonda Mahaffy played guitar and sang JesusFault” (which is a song several hadnt heard before but carried a powerful message in itself), The Goodness of God” and I Speak Jesus.” Words were shared in the program so people could sing along.

The special speaker this year was Pastor Clay Conry from the Prairie Home Church out of Faith, South Dakota. He had a very moving and insightful message based on Colossians 2:6-7, with the main focus on being rooted in Christ.

Thank you to the Cowboys for Christ Center of the Nation Chapter and the WIT Coalition for hosting such an amazing Christ-centered event.

Refreshments were served and several stuck around to visit.
