BELLE FOURCHE—During the summer, Thursdays are reserved for gathering with friends, family and neighbors in the park behind the Tri-State Museum and Visitors Center for an evening of live music and community fellowship.

The second Hometown Thursday of the summer, on June 11, was met with a bit of windy weather, but the sun came out and made for a nice evening for everyone who turned out to enjoy the event.

Hometown Thursdays has been a summertime gathering place since 2013, bringing people together to enjoy an evening of visiting, live music and delicious food. The event also features a variety of vendors and a beer garden for adults.

With the event beginning at 6 p.m., food trucks are essential to feeding those who havent had a chance to grab supper before stopping by the event. Rollin in the Hills, Mama Os, Brain Freeze, Mangled Foods and Crazee Cow Ice Cream were all on site to feed the masses.

Musical entertainment for the night was Tyler Bills Trio. They are out of the Rapid City area and play indie rock. Band members are Tyler Bills, Devin Bills and Mike Grosek. The Bills brothers were both formerly in the popular Black Hills area band Judd Hoos. The Trio performed a mix of their own music and covers of popular songs to entertain the crowd. This week the band was sponsored by Nehl Dental, Carmichael Construction, Splash & Dash Carwash and Subway.

The Tri-State Museum offers a variety of activities to keep the younger crowd entertained. There is usually a craft activity offered. This week the youth made and decorated paper bag kites. Because of the possibility of strong wind, the bouncy house was put up inside the Museum in the Events Center. This provided the perfect place for kids to expend energy while being safely inside out of the wind. Additionally, Roger brought his mini train for the kids to ride on around the Museum grounds.

The weekly Hometown Thursdays concert series is held every Thursday through the first week in August. Next week, Camp Comfort will be the musical guest. The event begins at 6 p.m. and runs through 9 p.m.

The rest of the summer schedule includes June 25, Dakota Country; July 2, Williams and Wright; July 9, Jessica Loobey; July 16, Brandon Jones; July 23, Wilt Brothers; July 30, Tim Zach Band and August 6, JJ Kent with Aces and 8s.
