BELLE FOURCHE—After two years in the making. On Tuesday July 14, 2026, the Belle Fourche Volunteer Fire Department welcomed the arrival of its new Engine 2. A Kenworth T880 cab & Chassis built by Toyne.

It is powered by a 400hp Paccar PX-9 engine w/Allison transmission. We increased the volume of water by 300 gallons for a 1,500gal water capacity with 25-gallon class A foam tank. A 1,250gal Hale pump, 2,100-gallon porta-tank with a rear swivel dump chute.

We welcome in the new and retire from our department the older Engine 2, which was purchased in 2000 from Central States Pumper, now Rosenbauer. The old 2 was a Chevy cab & chassis with a 250hp Cat 3116, 1,200-gallon capacity tank.

The outgoing Engine 2 will not be retired for long. After a brief retirement the old Engine 2 will go Nisland-Arpan Fire department in Butte County, SD to continue providing fire protection to its new home town and mutual aid support to its neighboring Fire Departments.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Belle Fourche Volunteer Fire Department or Cadet Program you can download an application from our website at BFVFD.org. We meet on Wednesday Evenings at 7 p.m. at the Firehall, located at 605 National St.
