BELLE FOURCHE—Even though it was a brisk winter evening outside, inside the Weather Hat Company the atmosphere was anything but cold. Guests came together to craft the perfect hat at the Sip N’ Style on the evening of January 27.

Along the wall, a handcrafted selection of wool ladies’ fashion hats greeted participants. Each lady picked out the perfect hat for her. Hats were offered in a variety of shapes and colors. After the hat was chosen, the gals spent time personalizing their hats, allowing their personality to shine through.

Jennifer Scholl led the ladies through the process. She was able to share decorating techniques and offer advice on ways to design the hats, along with tips on how to best anchor the new embellishments to the hat.

In a separate room, just off the main room, a selection of hatbands, feathers, flowers, ribbons, leather, gems, scarves, rhinestones, and other decorative details were available to help make each hat one-of-a-kind. Jennifer said, “You can get as crazy as you want!”

All the hats were ready to be styled. “We are creating a little bit of a personal look for each person, so you have the hat, and then we are decorating—they get to go through all the drawers and all of the boxes and all the cubbies, looking for something that they might want to add to it,” explained Jennifer.

Jennifer enjoys hosting the Sip N’ Style events. “I have always done Sip events, I’ve done Sip N’ Styles for the last couple of years. I started in ’23,” she said.

The evening was relaxed and the atmosphere was calm as the gals looked through all of the details, finding just the right looks to suit their style.

Wine and water, along with a variety of snacks, were offered. “Take a break, have another drink of your wine, have a little bit of munchies, and then come back,” encouraged Jennifer. “We are having a nice, relaxed, fun evening—we are not stressing—we refuse to stress!”

If you missed this event, Weather Hat Company plans to offer a few more chances to participate. “Hat bars are hugely popular right now! And so I think I’ll do one every month,” said Jennifer. Space is limited, so watch the Company’s Facebook page for the next event and grab your spot!
