The Broncs took on the Hot Springs Bison over the weekend and pulled off a win with a score of 49-43. This was the second win of the season for the Broncs after a 10 game losing streak which takes their season record to 2-11.
The win came under Coach John Shanklin’s first game as head coach after Coach Jimmy Martin retired. Coach Martin had been with the Broncs the past 2 seasons as head coach and after an impressive 53 year career in coaching in South Dakota, 32 of those spent in Belle Fourche.
Coach Martin expressed it was never about the win record, rather helping to develop young men. Many Bronc players gave credit to Coach Martin when asked about their basketball career influences.
The Broncs look to take on Mobridge-Pollock this week on Thursday, February 5th on the road and Custer at home on Saturday February 7th with a 5:30pm tipoff in the Belle Fourche High School gym. JV will play at the Belle Fourche Middle School at 2:30pm.
The Lady Broncs boasted a victory over the Bison with a score of 57-25. This after a 4 game losing streak took the Broncs to 4-10 record. Reagan Hatling was lead scorer with 19 points and 11 rebounds in a very good showing, followed by Emma Nehl with 11 points on the board.
This was the highest scoring game for the Lady Broncs on the season. The Lady Broncs took on Sturgis Brown Scoopers on Tuesday, February 3rd, to be followed by Mobridge Pollock on Thursday, February 5th, both on the road.
On Saturday, February 7th they host Custer at home with a 4pm Varsity tipoff at the Belle Fourche High School gym. JV plays at 2:30 in the High School gym.
