Bronc Wrestling Hosts Home Tournament

The Bronc wrestling teams competed in a duel in Sturgis on Thursday January 29th followed by hosting their home two-day tournament on Friday January 30th and Saturday January 31st.

They then helped host the Belle Fourche AAU Club’s home Bronc Dailey Invite on Sunday, February 1st by running tables, refereeing and towel tapping.

The Broncs had 5 placers go 5-5 in the placing rounds in the home tournament with many great matches. At 106lbs, Jaxson Linch went 4-2 and placed 5th, at 126lbs Cooper Conry went 3-2 and finished 5th, at 156lbs Koby Bowden went 4-2 for a 5th place finish and your two champions were Luke Tonsager with a 4-0 finish at Heavyweight and Riley Dighton with a 4-0 finish at 157lbs, also earning Outstanding Male Wrestler for the tournament.

Additional Bronc wrestlers on the roster for the home invite were, Jace Olson at 113lbs, Teedin Humble at 120lbs, Dylan Park at 126llbs, Preston Lake at 132lbs, Jace Hiles at 132lbs, Kolby Tibbs at 150lbs, and Dillon Streeter at 215lbs.

The team finished 6th out of 19 teams.

The Lady Broncs wrestled in the Belle Fourche Area Community Center this year to provide additional space and timeliness to the tournament, which was a success.

The ladies had 2 placers for the Broncs at their home invite, AnnaBelle Dighton went 3-1 for a 3rd place finish and Kyra Vandenberg went 4-0 for champion at 100lbs as well as earning Outstanding Female Wrestler for the tournament.

A first for the Bronc wrestlers to earn both male and female outstanding wrestlers! Additional wrestlers on the roster for the Lady Broncs were Lia Mundt at 115lbs and Jasmine Reason at 120lbs.

The Lady Broncs placed 10th out of 21 teams for their 4-wreslter crew.

The Broncs teams compete next in Hill City on Saturday, November 7th, followed by a duel in Morecroft before the Regionals meet in Rapid City on Saturday, February 21st.
