Middle School Track Squeezes in Meet Between Rounds of Inclement Weather

On Tuesday April 21st, the middle school track and field team travelled to Custer for a meet. For a number of 8th graders, this was their first meet of the season after a Math and Science Club trip to Florida and numerous inclement weather cancellations.

Top finishers for the boys were as follows with only the 100 meter races having a 6th grade division, all others are 6th/7th grade combined:

Sprint Race Results: 100 meter dash: 6th grade boys, Eli Woxland placed 8th with a time of 14.8; 200 meter dash: 7th grade boys, Kellen Williams placed first with a time of 27.12, Parker Martin placed 3rd with a time of 28.45;400 meter dash: 7th grade boys, Austin Ramirez placed 10th with a time of 1:09.59;

Distance Race results were: 800 meter run: 7th grade boys, Maddox Clarkson placed 1st with a time of 2:29.63; 1600 meter run: 7th grade boys, Keaton Davis placed 6th with a time of 6:30.65;

Relay Results were: 4×100 meter relay 6th grade boys: team of Caleb Cherveny, Bayzen Curtis, Erik Randolph, Dale Humbracht placed 8th with a time of 1:11.62; 4×100 relay 7th grade boys: team of Parker Martin, Grady Martin, Gunner Walding, Kellen Williams placed 2nd place with a time of 52.72; 4×100 meter relay 8th grade boys: team of Cole Mailloux , Elijah Beatson, Devyn Perschbacher, Bradly Dreiske placed 7th with a time of 51.72; 4×400 meter relay 8th grade boys: team of Ben Raba, Cole Mailloux, Blaine Moke, Bradly Dreiske placed 2nd with a time of 4:05.46;

Field Event Results were; Shotput, 8th grade boys: Ben Raba placed 3rd with a throw of 38-07; Discuss, 8th grade boys: Kason Lang placed 4th with a throw of 106-06, Ben Raba placed 9th with a throw of 102-05; High Jump, 7th grade boys: Maddox Clarkson placed 6th at a height of 4’8’ and 8th grade boys: Max Coyle placed 2nd with a height of 5’2”, Elijah Beatson placed 7th with a height of 5’ Long Jump, 7th grade boys: Parker Martin placed 4th with a height of 14’10”, Maddox Clarkson placed 7th with a height of 14’4” and 8th grade boys: Blaine Moke placed 2nd with a height of 16’10”, Max Coyle placed 9th with a height of 16’

Girls Results are as follows:

Sprint race results: 100 meter dash, 6th grade: 10th place Ainsley Schmeltzer time of 15.71; 7th grade: AnnaBelle Dighton placed 10th with a time of 14.9; and 8th grade: Skylar Randolph placed 4th with a time of 14.09; 200 meter dash, 8th grade: Berklee Nore placed 1st with a time of 28.71, Lochlin Tibbs placed 9th with a time of 30.99, Irie McQueen placed 10th with a time of 31.15; 400 meter dash, 7th grade: Emerson Carmichael placed 2nd with a time of 1:06.69, and 8th grade: Grace Long placed 1st with a time of 1:09.56, Skylar Randolph placed 2nd with a time of 1:09.73, Kylie Bidwell placed 6th with a time of 1:11.68, Elise Roberts placed 10th with a time of 1:14.8. 100 meter hurdles- 7th grade: Ruth Moore placed 8th with a time of 21.20; and 200 meter hurdles- 7th grade- Bryn Coyle placed 10th with a time of 37.17;

Distance Race Results: 800 meter run, 7th grade, Gracie Hodge placed 9th with a time of 3:02.23, Kaezlynn Jones placed 10th with a time of 3:03.58 and 8th grade- Elise Roberts placed 6th with a time of 3:03.52; 1600 meter run, 7th grade: Aubyn Hartman placed 6th with a time of 6:24.66, Gracie Hodge placed 8th with a time of 6:44.43; and 8th grade, Layla Drieling placed 1st with a time of 6:16.27, Isabela Torberson placed 2nd with a time of 6:22.47, and Piper Curran placed 4th with a time of 6:32.52;

Relay Race Results: 4×100- 6th grade- the team of Kamyrn VanSickle , Morgan Wainman , Everly Uttecht, and Brynlee Barrera placed 9th with a time of 1:09.39; and the team of Britta Hagen, Emma Schulze, Aspyn McKinney, and Kyra Kerr placed 10th with a time of 1:12.39; 7th grade- the team of Adilynn Burke, Charlie Huston , AnnaBelle Dighton, and Emersyn Carmichael placed 4th with a time of 58.52; and 8th grade- the team of Irie McQueen, Kylie Bidwell, Berklee Nore, and Grace Long placed 3rd with a time of 57.7; and the team of Gracelynn Gaffoglio, Lochlin Tibbs, Natalie Lei, and Ember Olson placed 6th with a time of 57.87; 4×400 – 7th grade: the team of Ivy Roberts, Rainley Roseland, Hope Willert, and Morgan Wainman placed 6th with a time of 5:59.61; 4×800- 8th grade: the team of Aubyn Hartman, Piper Curran, Layla Drieling, and Isabela Torberson placed 1st with a time of 11:32.65

Field Event Results: Shot put – 8th grade: Charlie Merjil placed 5th with a throw of 28-08; Discus- 8th grade: Charlie Merjil placed 4th with a throw of 65- 04, and Layla Drieling placed 7th with a throw of 56-09; High Jump- 7th grade: girls all tying for 4th place at a height of 4’2” were AnnaBelle Dighton, Charlie Huston and Emersyn Carmichael; and 8th grade- Berklee Nore placed 1st with a height of 4’10”, and Gracelynn Gaffoglio placed 4th with a height of 4’4” Long Jump -7th grade: Emersyn Carmichael placed 4th with a jump of 13-06, and AnnaBelle Dighton placed 9th with a jump of 12-11 and 8th grade: Berklee Nore placed 2nd with a jump of 15-01, Gracie Long placed 5th with a jump of 14-01 and Irie McQueen placed 6th with a jump of 13-11.

The middle school competes next in Sturgis on Saturday May 2nd at the Jeff Smit Invite, followed by May 5th at Sioux Park in Rapid City and ending with Black Hills Conference on May 8th hosted by Spearfish.
