On Tuesday April 21st a JV meet was on the schedule for the Broncs, however this was changed to a Varsity and JV meet combined, allowing for the whole team to compete. A number of athletes moved their way up the school leader board again at this meet. For the boys, Gabe Raba moved to 5th in the discuss with a toss of 147’11” and the boys 4×400 relay team consisting of Gavin Pearson, Caeyn Howard, Griffin Biehl, and Slater Humbracht moved to 8th all-time in the 4×400 relay with a time of 3:37.97. For the girls, Mya Nowowiejski moved to 10th in the 100m dash with a time of 13.09 seconds also earning her 5th in the meet, Betsy Moore moved to 8th all time in the 300 hurdles with a time of 52.05, also earning her 10th place in the meet, and Rhys Pearson moved to 2nd all time in the 3200m run with a time of 11:48.03, also earning her 2nd place in the meet. This was Pearson’s first time competing in the 3200 race! The girls Sprint Medley relay team of Avery Coyle, Ella Bryan, Mya Nowowiejski, and Rhys Pearson moved to 7th all time with a time of 4:25.73.
Other top finishers in the meet for the boys were Gavin Pearson with a second place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.12, Gabe Raba placed 6th in shot put with a throw of 41’11.5” followed by Emmit Lipp in 7th place with a throw of 41’8” and Carter Goeders in 8th place with a throw of 41’7”.
Gabe Raba’s aforementioned throw in the discuss earned him 2nd place with Emmit Lipp coming in at 8th place with a throw of 124’8” and Johny Estrada took 8th place in the high jump with a height of 5’5”. Next on the schedule for the Broncs is the Howard Wood Relays in Sioux Falls, a highly competitive prestigious meet with only top qualifiers being invited on May 1st and 2nd. On May 5th there will be a JV invite in Sturgis, followed by the Black Hills classic, also in Sturgis, on May 9th.
