On Saturday December 6th the Bronc girls team traveled to Custer for the girls division of the meet with Kyra Vandenberg taking 1st place on the podium at 105lbs.

The Broncs have 14 boys and 6 girls on the team to start the season. Of the returners, 4 seniors and 5 junior veterans are returning for upper classman. The team has a few returning underclassman and some newcomers have joined as well.

Coaches Cory Neuharth and Nathan Jeulfs mention hoping to retain their Black Hills Conference Champions rein this season with Douglas and Custer as contenders. They discussed some of the off season work over the past year that some of the returning veterans on the team worked at with Riley Dighton, Garet Huston and Luke Tonsager competing in Junior Nationals in Milwaukee in June and Kyra Vandenberg competing in Fargo, the biggest tournament in the country, in July.

The girls put on their first girls only wrestling camp over the summer as well with 25 girls from the area for the first Taylor Graveman Youth Camp.

Michael Streeter and Tevin Gomez have returned this season as volunteer assistants allowing more hands on deck and eyes on the mats.

The coaches are welcoming middle school 7th and 8th graders to join their practices after the middle school season ends to introduce them to the program and get mentorship in the wrestling room with a quote, “consistency builds confidence”.

The Broncs teams wrestle next at The Monument in Rapid City for one of the season’s biggest tournaments on December 12th and 13th.
