BELLE FOURCHE—A two day celebration for two new businesses in town kicked off on Friday, September 12 with a ribbon cutting and continued Saturday, September 13 with an open house!
The Chamber of Commerce was on hand to help welcome Pearson Block Candy Shop and Pearson Block Hous Vintage and Modern to the community. “We’re really excited to be a part of the Belle Fourche community and we’re so happy to be here! This is a big dream of mine for a long time—Zach just kind of found out he was going to be a candy man not that long ago—but we’re just so excited to be here, so excited to be a part of Belle Fourche,” said Jenny Gaaskjolen, owner, as she addressed the crowd prior to the ribbon cutting.
Then family and friends gathered around to support the new businesses owners, Jenny and Zach, cut the ribbon as their daughter, Stella and son, Clayton held each end of the ribbon.
Opening their doors in July, the business is up and running. “It’s been good. I mean, we’re open now two months roughly, so yeah, it’s going good,” said Jenny. “In every community I’ve lived in, I’ve been a part of the Chamber Ribbon Cutting Committee or I started the Ribbon Cutting. So it’s really important to me to be a part of Belle Fourche and to do that! We’re excited to be here, great things are going on—the Chamber does a great job!”
The Gaaskjolen family created a very festive atmosphere, with live music playing and two very different charcuterie displays greeting attendees. When guests walked in the Vintage and Modern store they were met with an elaborate layout of meats, cheeses, crackers, nuts, olives, pretzels and fruit.
On the other hand, when you entered the Candy Shop a fun, creative candy display was sprawled out on a table with many different sweet treats to nibble on, including green and red licorice, gummy worms, freeze dried skittles and suckers among the many tasty treats. Drawings for door prizes were held and discount coupons were handed out.
During the Saturday open house a special visitor, Finnegan the pony from Blacktail Riding Academy out of Spearfish, was on hand in the back of the Candy Shop to entertain kids and adults alike. There was also face painting and games ongoing.
Both stores can be found at 615 State Street and are open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
