NEWELL—The hallways were filled with excited children exploring new classrooms and meeting new teachers at the Newell School Open House on the evening of August 14.

All kinds of activities were planned for the students to participate in and get comfortable with the new year ahead, including a Title 1 scavenger hunt that sent kids around the school to perform a variety of quests to get a prize. Some of the tasks included things like: visit Mrs. Wallace in the Library for an I Love to Read” bracelet and meet our new PE teacher, Mr. Santiago, in the gym and pick up a pencil. There were four tasks to complete and they could be done in any order.

For those students interested in being in band, Haggertys Music was on hand to help kids get an instrument. The Newell Cheer Squad was selling pom-poms for school spirit and FFA was set up to recruit new members.
