Hitching Post Tap House Crowns Trivia League Winners

BELLE FOURCHE—Eight weeks of Trivia League has come to an end at the Hitching Post Tap House. Finals were held on the evening of March 20.

Each week trivia teams answered three rounds of questions worth 10 points each for a total of 30 possible points. During the final round each team was able to bet points earned from the night for the final question. Weekly winners received 15 percent off their tab at the Tap House along with a $15 gift card to a local Belle Fourche Business.

On the final night, teams were able to bet all points earned during the entire series on one final question. Betting was a Jeopardy-style winner take all system. After making the decision for how many hard earned points to risk from those that each team spent eight weeks earning, it came down to one final question.

In the end, one team came out on top by knowing that March was named after the Roman God of War. The team Just Here for the Pizza made up of Shannon and Neilon Millar won the Trivia League title for the second year in a row. Shannon explained that they don’t do anything special to prepare for trivia. Neilon added that they have tried studying in the past, but it didn’t really work because you never know what will be asked. “I would suggest watching a lot of YouTube or reels because you never know,” said Shannon.

Thursday night trivia was a popular way for the community to spend the evening. “This was our best season so far, we had more teams than we have ever had at any previous Trivia League,” explained Amanda Kramp, Owner. “We had a great turnout almost every night we had full tables. The bar was packed pretty much every Thursday and that was where it was difficult to find seats sometimes, which was really cool!”

If you missed out on Trivia League, fear not! The Hitching Post will continue to have trivia night every Thursday night beginning at 6:30 p.m. So study up, watch YouTube, learn the Roman Gods  and come to the next trivia night (or just show up and hope for the best, you might know way more than you think you do!)  “We’ll do a couple weeks of just normal trivia for people that are interested in playing. We’ll keep putting it on every Thursday night,” explained Kramp. “Once it’s summertime, we’ll kind of die down and we will stop for Hometown Thursdays.”

The Hitching Post Tap House is a family owned business, Amanda Kramp, Tammy Westland, Mariah Wainman and Logan Symonds have other events planned. Up next is a Puzzle and Pints on March 29 at 12:30 p.m. where teams of two to four people race to put a 1000 piece puzzle together.
