Edna May Seieroe, 91, of Spearfish, South Dakota went home to Jesus on Sunday March 10, 2024. Born September 15, 1932 in Nisland, South Dakota Edna was the third of six children of Dave and Katie Weimer, German Russian immigrants, who moved around the Nisland and Vale as sharecroppers.

She went to Nisland School enjoyed basketball, journalism, and glee club. She graduated high school at Nisland in May 1951.

Edna and George Seieroe met at a 4th of July dance and were married 2 years later on June 3, 1951. George and Edna were married in a double ceremony with Edna’s brother, Alfred and Lorraine Weimer at the Nisland Church.

Edna and George started out their married life living in a 2 room shack in Vale. They bought the same farm on Hwy 212 that Edna had spent many of her years growing up. This farm is where she learned to love cooking, baking, canning, sewing, and gardening. George and Edna raised their 4 children to the farming life. Edna worked at the Nisland School lunch program where making cinnamon rolls were her specialty.

She was a charter member of the Tot ‘N Twenty Club, Lions Club, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Each year, she won many blue ribbons for her entries in the Butte County Fair.

George and Edna enjoyed dancing, bowling, and going to the Sunday matinee movie after church. A few years after George’s death in 1995, she left the farm and her supportive and beloved Nisland area community and bought a townhouse Spearfish. She was an active member of the Spearfish Senior Center, playing cards, dancing, serving breakfast during the Sturgis Rally, and Bingo.

Edna moved to Edgewood Vista Assisted Living in Spearfish. She was a spirited resident. Edna loved to sing, dance play cards, and Wii Bowling. Even at 91, was quick with her humor and wit.

She loved her family and enjoyed having them visit. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren filled her heart with joy and laughter as did her loving children.

Edna will be forever missed by her children, Sharon Neva, Rapid City, Rexann (Ric) Paul, Spearfish, Ken (Tracy) Seieroe, Nisland and Ed (Mary) Seieroe of Black Hawk, and by 13 grandchildren, and 8 & 1/2 great grandchildren, her brother, Jerry (Debby) Weimer, Modesto, CA. Sisters-in-law Etta Mae Kleiman, Custer and Lorraine Weimer, Rapid City and many nieces and nephews.

Edna was welcomed into Heaven by her loving husband, George, her parents, Alan Neva, son-in-law, siblings, Alfred, LeRoy, Irma and Shirley, many in-laws, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Edna’s life will be celebrated 10:30am Wednesday, March 20th, 2024 at the Nisland Independent Community Church. Visitation will take place 4pm to 6pm Tuesday at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Interment will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to the Nisland Independent Community Church.
