NEWELL—The Newell Youth Wrestling team recently attended two wrestling tournaments. The first was the Brandon Delzer Memorial AAU Youth Wrestling tournament on Sunday, January 7 at Sturgis Brown High School. There were 16 man brackets with smaller brackets being round robin, plus separate girls’ brackets. The 1st to 3rd place winners received trophies while 4th to 8th place winners received medals. Over 600 wrestlers from 57 schools across 3 states attended the tournament and over 1,000 matches were wrestled.
The Youth Wrestling team also attended the Westside Raider Youth Wrestling tournament on Sunday, January 14 at Rapid City Stevens High School. This tournament was sponsored by the Westside Raider Wrestling Club and the Stevens High School wrestlers, and was an 8-man bracketed tournament. Medals were given to 1st through 4th place winners.
