Newell High School students proudly displayed the American flag during the opening ceremony to honor area veterans.
Fred Wells, David Baumiller, and Nila Charles present the flags to begin the Newell Veterans’ Day ceremonies.
Speaker for the Newell Veterans Day Program, Gavin Tesch, challenged the crowd with pushups. He said that is one thing everyone does in the Army. Tesch is a private in his first year enlisted in the Army and is presently working on helicopters.
Newell Elementary students, under the direction of Music teacher Adhara Malunes, sang “This Land is Your Land” and “Thank You, Soldiers” for the crowd.
