2nd Annual Fishing at the Fair

Belle Fourche News

Forty children participated in the second annual” Fishing at the Fair” on Wednesday, August 2nd, during the Butte Lawrence County Fair in Nisland. Open to children ages 5-18. Mark Bachman spearheads this event, providing poles, bait, and refreshments. “There is no entry fee; just show up and fish. Bring your own fishing gear or use ours.” The event originated with Mark Bachman, who recruited Jeff Watson and Shawn Lipp to assist. The three men bait hooks and weigh fish during the event. “When the riverbank is lined with excited children catching fish, it keeps us running all morning.”

Bachman was pleased to get a phone call from two retired fishermen out of Spearfish who also came and helped this year. Special thanks to Chuck Watson for the donation towards supplies. Bachman is grateful for the participation and the assistance. “It’s all about the kids. They have a good time, and so do we. We are all looking forward to continuing this event for many years.” The coveted fish belt buckles were awarded to Biggest Fish: Kavin Linch. Smallest Fish: Laiklyn Agar. Most Fish: Jaxon Leach. Congratulations to all. See you at the “ 2024 Fishing at the Fair.”
