DEADWOOD, S.D.—Coeur Wharf and The Wharf Fund are proud to announce a $12,000 donation to NeighborWorks® Dakota Home Resources, supporting the organization’s ongoing efforts to provide safe, decent, and affordable housing while revitalizing neighborhoods throughout the community. Specifically, the funds are to help launch the Neighborhood Beautification program.
The “Neighborhood Beautification program” seeks to help residents in the Black Hills “reset” their overgrown yards, making them easier to maintain. NeighborWorks DHR staff work with local volunteers and municipalities to identify homeowners that need a little help getting their overgrown yards back under control.
“There is an immediate sense of accomplishment when you take the roughest yard in the neighborhood and transform it to the nicest yard on the block,” says Mike Walker, Executive Director NeighborWorks DHR. This dramatic change sparks excitement in the neighborhood, encouraging neighbors to improve their properties, beautifying the overall neighborhood.
Coeur Wharf’s donation provided NeighborWorks DHR with the funds necessary to purchase the lawncare equipment and other tools to get this program up and running. Thank you Coeur Wharf and The Wharf Fund for your support!
NeighborWorks® Dakota Home Resources works to strengthen communities by helping individuals and families access quality housing and by investing in neighborhood revitalization. About Coeur Wharf and The Wharf Fund
The Wharf Fund is a million-dollar endowment fund that was designed to give back to Lead, South Dakota and surrounding communities. The Wharf Fund is held within the South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF). The fund was developed to help create lasting relationships and bring long term social and economic benefits for all communities and people involved. The Fund is meant to help the cause last longer than the money that is granted.
The fund is bases it’s donations off of four core funding categories: health, education, arts and culture, and community development.
