[Deadwood, SD] — [October 14, 2026] — A $15,000 donation from the Adams-Mastrovich Family Foundation to NeighborWorks® Dakota Home Resources will help single mothers overcome one of the biggest barriers to homeownership by providing financial assistance for down payments and closing costs.
For many single mothers, purchasing a home represents more than a financial milestone. It means creating stability, building a future, and providing a place where their children can grow and thrive.
However, the upfront costs of buying a home can make that dream feel out of reach. This donation will help bridge that gap, making homeownership more attainable for single mothers working toward a place of their own.
NeighborWorks® Dakota Home Resources (NWDHR) assists in providing safe, decent, and affordable housing and revitalizing neighborhoods to improve the quality of life in our communities. Through this support, the organization can help eligible families take an important step toward long-term housing stability and financial independence.
“Founder Mary Adams-Mastrovich had a passion for helping people. And, housing was one of her interests. Housing for those who couldn’t afford it on their own resources. So this organization is terrific mission work in that capacity. We’re proud to be part of NWDHR mission,” said Adams-Mastrovich Family Foundation board member, Barry Kelner.
By investing in homeownership opportunities, this donation supports not only individual families but also stronger neighborhoods and more resilient communities. Helping single mothers establish roots in a home of their own creates lasting benefits that can extend well beyond the front door.
NeighborWorks® Dakota Home Resources continues to work toward making safe, affordable housing more accessible and improving quality of life throughout the communities it serves.
