The Broncs hosted the Faith Longhorns on Friday February 27th with a final score of 83-56 for their last regular season game and last home game. Parents of Seniors Gavin Pearson and Sern Weishaar comment on the last game of their “forever stomping grounds” as having been a joy to sit together over the years and watch the boys grow, with many memories and “some of the best times”. The parents hope to spend more time in the future “continuing to cheer on the Broncs, eat popcorn suppers, and grow old together in the gym”.
For the first round of Region 8 Class A playoffs, the Broncs will play Rapid City Christian who’s current record stands at 12-8 on the season, with the Broncs at 4-16 on the season. The game will be played at Rapid City’s Christian with a 6pm tipoff.
Lady Broncs Beat Custer in Quarterfinals
On Tuesday, February 24th, the Broncs traveled to Custer for the Region 8 class A quarterfinal game against the Wildcats. In the first quarter Danali Larson made a 3 pointer, Emma Nehl scored 4 points and Raegan Hatling scored two points to end the first quarter with a score of 9-13. In the second quarter Raegan Hatling and Emma Nehl continued get points on the board with a 25- 19 lead at the half.
In the third quarter an additional 9 points by the Lady Broncs put the score at 34-28 going into the fourth. In the final quarter of the game, Raegan Hatling scored another 3 pointer to bring her to 4 on the game, as well as two free throws. Payton Richardson, Emma Nehl, and Berkley Nore each made a basket and Denali Larson made a basket and a free throw in the fourth to bring the final score to a victorious 48-42 win over the Wildcats. Lead scorers were Raegan Hatling with 22 points, Emma Nehl with 15 points and Denali Larson with 6. This game marked Coach Bill Burr’s 200th win!
