Athletes from across the area showcased determination, teamwork and sportsmanship at the Special Olympics basketball competition held February 14, 2026, at Rapid City Central High School.
Competing in a Skills Competition and Basketball games, local athletes Emma Juelfs, Gracey Weishaar, Fara Bricker, Sadee Keil, Logan Carson and Brady Pierce proudly represented the community.
Each athlete demonstrated perseverance and enthusiasm throughout the day, cheered on by family members, friends and supporters in the stands.
Adding to the spirit of inclusion were Unified Partners Emitt Lipp, Joseph McLennan, Jaxon Sanderlin, and Danielle Vetter who competed alongside the athletes.
The Unified program brings athletes with and without intellectual disabilities together on the same team, promoting friendship, respect and understanding through sports.
Coaches Melissa Nore, Stacey Neuharth, and Ryan Bush praised the athletes for their Brady Pierce and Coach Stacey Neuharth. hard work and positive attitudes. “Our athletes put in countless hours preparing for this event,” the coaches shared. “We are incredibly proud of their effort, sportsmanship and the way they supported one another.”
The team will continue its season with another competition on March 24 in Spearfish, where they will face other Unified teams from across the region.
The event will provide another opportunity for the athletes and their partners to showcase their skills, strengthen friendships and represent their community with pride.
