Bronc Wrestlers Compete in Last Regular Season Tournaments

On Saturday, February 7th the Bronc wrestling teams split directions with the Lady Broncs headed to Newcastle for the Lady Doggie Invite. The Lady Broncs took all five girls wrestlers on the team. Coach Cory states that “all of them gained some experience, and are striving to prepare themselves to be in the best position possible come Regional tournament time in a few weeks!”

At 105lbs, Charlie Huston took 5th place, at 110lbs AnnaBell Dighton took 3rd place and Lia Mundt took 6th place, Jasmine Reason competed at 120lbs and at 100lbs, Kyra Vandenberg took champion continuing her streak.

On the boys side, Coach Cory states, “were pretty short handed due to multiple reasons. Those that traveled to compete got in some good matches, and are continuing to key in on areas where needed come Regional tournament time in a few weeks!”

Competitors were Jaxson Linch at 106, Jace Olson at 113lbs, Teedin Humble at (L) Caden Swaney; (Top C) Koby Bowden & Riley Dighton taking a break matside between matches at Hill City; (BC) Teedin Humble (R) Lady Bronc Champion 100lb Kyra Vandenberg Newcastle Girls Tournament. 120lbs, Dylan Park at 126lbs, Preston Lake at 132lbs, Jace Hiles at 132lbs, Kolby Tibbs at 150lbs, and Koby Bowden at 165lbs.

Place winners for the boys were Caden Swaney at 106lbs earning 4th, Riley Dighton at 157lbs earning champion and Luke Tonsager at heavyweight earning champion continuing their streaks.

As the season winds down for the wrestlers, they have one dual left in Morecroft his coming week.

They will then compete in hopes to secure a spot for state at the Regional meet in Rapid City at The Monument Ice Arena on Saturday, February 21st. State will be held in Sioux Falls at the Denny Sanford Premier Center on February 26-28th.
