BELLE FOURCHE—Those wanting to spend an afternoon creating art while sipping spirits found a perfect pairing when the Hitching Post Tap House and Alexandra Hansen teamed up for a Paint ’n Sip event on Saturday, January 10.
Contemporary Western artist Alexandra (Peedee) Hansen of Aladdin, WY, guided the room full of eager painters, leading them step-by-step—from the first stroke to the final one. With humor and kindness, she turned even the most novice painters into confident pros with her positive instruction.
The Tap House was full for the event. “I think it’s just a more relaxing atmosphere here, people can just drink and have fun and paint! It definitely helps that it’s Peedee because everyone knows her and loves her,” explained Mariah Wainman, co-owner Hitching Post Tap House.
Taking part in the pairing is an easy choice for the Hitching Post. “I really just have to show up! Peedee makes it happen, she does all the work—all the hard stuff! She sells the tickets, and picks the painting—I am just the host for her,” said Wainman.
The event lasts a few hours and throughout the afternoon, what began as a blank canvas turned into a full colored painting. At this event, the participants created a guitar painting that they each sign and take home.
If you are interested in painting with Hansen, she will be hosting a Sip ’n Paint at the Branding Iron Steakhouse on Tuesday, January 27 beginning at 6 p.m.
For a more private class, Hansen is offering Painting with Peedee on Patreon (online platform). You can sign up to paint with her from your own home, on your own schedule.
If you are looking for something fun to do during the cold winter months, The Hitching Post is preparing for their next installment of Trivia League starting Thursday, January 22nd at 6:30 p.m.
The format is three rounds of questions with a final round where you can wager any or all of the points you just earned that evening. Teams consist of one to four people and registration is required. The fee is $10 per person on each team. League runs for eight weeks with both weekly and grand prize awards.
Watch for the Tap House’s annual Mug Club Party coming up in the near future. If you haven’t joined the Mug Club, hurry in and ask all about it! “They’re $100 to buy the mug, and then you get the mug, and you get all the discounts that go along with it. Then you have to renew annually for $50—but one of the perks is an Annual Mug Club Party,” explained Wainman. “We haven’t done it yet, but it’s just gonna be a big party just to celebrate our Mug Club members—only members will be invited!”
