BELLE FOURCHE—“You are here with the first woman to ever love you,” said D.J. Bull of Colt 45 to all of the boys as he welcomed them to the 1st Annual Mother Son Dance sponsored by the Belle Silver Lining on the evening of March 15. And while the boys could be accompanied by their mom, grandma, aunt or other, it was clear to see, no matter who brought them to the dance, they were all very loved!
The theme for the night was LEGO and the Community Hall was transformed into a brightly colored LEGOland. The seniors at Belle Silver Lining made giant LEGO decorations that lined the room, packages of LEGO bricks greeted each table setting and LEGO play tables were set up for the kids to enjoy.
“We have a great turnout. So we’re expecting at least 50 to 100 and we’re close to that, so great turnout, great weather and great for the first year! And the theme, the LEGO theme seems to be going well,” said Mary Riley, Events Coordinator. “This is the first year, so this is like a trial to see their interests.”
The evening began with a social hour at 6:00 p.m. A perfect time to socialize with friends, play games or have professional pictures taken. C. Snow Imagery provided commemorative photos with a portion of the proceeds going to Belle Silver Lining.
A dinner of salad, Chicken Alfredo, breadsticks and dessert was served at 7:00 p.m. Dancing began at 8:00 p.m. with music provided by Colt 45.
Drawings were held throughout the night for a blanket, a photo package and a LEGO set. LEGO vendor Sam Moore had a booth set up. His motto is It’s Moore fun with LEGO, and he is an authorized LEGO reseller.
“It’s going great! We have a lot of great sets for every age. And me, personally, I love LEGO! I’ve always been into LEGO, so it’s always fun,” he said. He said his store sells LEGO for cheaper than big box stores. He also carries rare and vintage items. You can find him online at MooresMinifigures.com.
The Mother Son dance is a fundraiser for Belle Silver Lining whose mission is to celebrate, embrace and serve older adults for the betterment of our community. Tickets were sold for $35.00 each.
