Belle Fourche has a reputation for being the place to go for western wear. Of course, women shoppers in this region love western wear. But sometimes we want something different. We want some seasonal variety, professional work attire, comfortable outerwear that can be worn with or without cowboy boots. We want friendly customer service from an experienced sartorial staff member. We want to shop locally.
Since Lifestyles on State Street closed earlier this year following Lori Foos’ untimely passing, mourners have lamented the loss of Lori and the store. “Every day, we see people driving by or just stopping in front of the store, in shock to see it closed.” Michelle Evans commented with sadness.
Michelle, and George Wilson are the owners of Cowboys Too, next door neighbors to Lifestyles. They miss Lori. “We had a lot of respect for Lori and still do.” George said. “I’ll miss the chocolate chip cookies she made, but I miss Lori more.” He added. “She was a lot of fun.” Michelle smiled as she recalled happy memories. “She was never our competition; she was our community.”
George and Michelle understood that Belle Fourche needed a new women’s clothing store. They know that shoppers come to Belle Fourche from distant communities like Billings, Buffalo, Harding County, Rapid City to shop in Belle Fourche. George and Michelle decided to purchase the empty Lifestyles building next door to Cowboys Too. Then they went to work. The name of the new store, Pasque Ladies Fashions was carefully chosen. In addition to being the name of the South Dakota state flower ‘Pasque’ is from the French as is ‘Belle Fourche’. It means renewal, rebirth, nobility, grace, and dignity. “All of these are words that remind of us Lori.” George explained.
George and Michelle have been busy renovating, ordering inventory, and announcing their plans on the new social media page. https://m.facebook.com/PasqueLadiesFashions?locale=es_LA
Essentially, the only changes will be the appearance of the store. Much of the store has been gutted down to the counters. The color scheme will be basically white. The inventory will include Tribal, Tru-Lux, Multiples, Foxcroft, and FD Jay, the top five brands familiar to Lifestyles’ customers. Familiar assistant Pat Main will be back to help, as will some other former employees. “Everyone who worked for Lori liked her.” Michelle said.
The rebirth of LifeStyles into Pasque Ladies Fashions has clearly been a significant undertaking for George and Michelle. However, it is also a labor of love, for the people in the Belle Fourche shopping network, and for the love of Lori Foos and her legacy.
