Steven Torgerson, 69, died February 15, 2024 after a multi-year battle with Huntington’s Disease. Steve was born February 22, 1954 to Sherman and Blanche Torgerson in Deadwood, SD where he spent his early childhood. In 1967 he moved with his family to Spearfish where he attended school. He enjoyed playing a variety of sports while in school and continued to be active with hunting, fishing and horseback riding as an adult.
In 1972 Steve and Connie Derosier were married and the couple had two children: Stacey and Steven (Tyler). In 1986 Steve married Linda Phillips and the couple enjoyed 37 years of marriage.
During his adult life Steve excelled in several occupations including managing the family sawmill in Whitewood, millwright for Pope & Talbot sawmill, police officer for the City of Spearfish, and welder for Gillette Fence Manufacturing. Steve and his wife, Linda, also enjoyed operating their ranch and raising horses.
Steve is survived by his wife, Linda of Belle Fourche, daughter Stacey (Edgar) Munalem, Phoenix, AZ, and son Steven Tyler Torgerson, Spearfish; brothers Sam (Aleta) Torgerson, Douglas, WY; and Eldon (Anji) Garhart, Ashby, MA; sisters Sherry Torgerson, Portland, OR; and Dr. Ramona (Dr. Michael) Cosgrove, Fort Worth, TX. He is also survived by four precious grandchildren; Kelby (Sarah) Torgerson, Devon Torgerson, Tristan Munalem and Mahalia Munalem.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Stephanie Rada; and cherished step-father, John Garhart.
