NEWELL-Cold weather didn’t stop the Delta Dental Mobile from visiting Newell School the first week of January. Youngsters from the area were treated by the professionals in the mobile unit that sat beside the school, who cleaned their teeth and checked dental health.
Butte Electric Cooperative Round-Up Committee did a large part toward donating to the Delta Dental Mobile to help support the dental health of those who attended.
Twenty-five students were seen this year with over $21,000 worth of services done. Donations help to fund the services done by the crew of the Dental Mobile. During the year, a bake sale is held usually during the Labor Day festivities, along with private donations and other sources including Pioneer Bank and Butte Electric Round-Up Dollars.
The Delta Dental Mobile does a range of services, according to their website, from diagnostic care such as exams and x-rays to preventative care like teeth cleaning and dental sealants. They also do restorative care including cavity fillings, crowns, and extractions.
The Delta Dental Mobile Program has served over 50,000 children across 89 cities in South Dakota since its inception in 2004.
