A Letter From the New Superintendent

Newell News

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am excited to fill the role of Newell Superintendent and 9-12 Principal for the 2024-2025 school year.  As a 1990 Newell Alumni, I am making the complete circle in my educational experience.  After graduating from Newell High School, I completed a degree from South Dakota State University and returned to my family dairy farm.  While dairying for seven years, I was very involved with the Newell FFA and developed a desire to make the career change to education.

Wall School District hired me on an alternative certification as the Agriculture Educator and FFA Advisor in 2002.  After completing my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a Technology Integration endorsement from Black Hills State University, I made the career move to 6-12 Science teacher.  In 2014, after completing my Specialist Degree with a PK-12 Principal Endorsement, I started my administration experience at Dupree School District as the 7-12 Principal.  I finished my Doctorate Degree with a Superintendent Endorsement in December 2015.  My dissertation was Teacher Retention in Sparsely Populated South Dakota School Districts, which Newell School District was part of the study.  I filled the role of Superintendent at Wessington Springs and later had the opportunity to return to Wall School District.

I enjoy the role as an educator as well as a lifelong learner.  I describe education as the hardest job you will ever love! I look forward to working with all of you.

Thank you for this opportunity,

Pandi Pittman
