NEWELL—After a thrilling performance on Friday evening, the Newell Lady Irrigators emerged victorious in a hard fought volleyball match against the Timber Lake Panthers.
In the first set, the Panthers overpowered the Irrigators with a score of 25-19. However, the Irrigators quickly regrouped and came back stronger in the second set. With exceptional teamwork, they managed to take the second set with a score of 25-22, setting the stage for an intense match.
Maintaining their momentum for the rest of the match, the Irrigators won the third set with a score of 25-19 and dominated the fourth set with a score of 25-16. Cheyenne McTaggart, head coach, said that the team has been successful despite a mid-season slump. “I think our bench is stepping up really well,” she said. “They’ve got big shoes to fill, and they’ve been doing really well.”
The Lady Irrigators will travel to Faith on Monday, October 23, where they will take on the Longhorns. Regionals begin on October 30.
