NEWELL—Mother’s Day is the perfect day to have a party! At the Newell Vale Nisland (NVN) Senior Center the ladies decided to do just that, host a party on May 9.
They set the stage for an inviting Mother’s Day gathering with tablecloths on all the tables, fresh carnation centerpieces, an entire table of desserts and a choice of punch, coffee or tea.
There was a table decorated with delicate tea sets, and they were giving out flowers to the mothers—they really thought of everything! “Oh, we just want ladies to come in and sit down and visit and enjoy themselves,” explained Marj Adams, President of NVN.
There was also lovely piano music that filled the room with Roxanne Neilan keeping the ladies entertained.
Another reason for the party was to take the opportunity to show off all of the renovations that have been made to the center. If you haven’t been in to see the changes, it is definitely something you must see. A few of the recent changes include the ceiling has been redone, the walls have been repainted, the flooring has been replaced, there is a new roof on the building, the storage room has been cleaned and repainted, the kitchen floor has been replaced and most recently the women’s bathroom, with two stalls has been redone with a new floor, and the two stalls have been remodeled into one room that is now ADA compliant.
The NVN Senior Center ladies would really like everyone to come and support the center and join in on a few of their upcoming activities while taking the opportunity to see all of the recent upgrades.
On Monday nights the center hosts bingo from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Come visit, enjoy some snacks and possibly win a game of bingo or two.
May 26 is the next Pie Day at the NVN Center. Beginning at 10 a.m. fresh baked pies are available to purchase by the slice or whole. You can come in and enjoy the pie among friends or grab a slice to go. Roxanne Neilan plays the piano from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The ladies usually play cards during Pie Day. Come and join in on the fun!
The Senior Center is also available to rent as well.
