Community Fun: Easter Egg Decorating Contest for Kids and Adults

Belle Fourche News Other Local News

BELLE FOURCHE—Making bright, colorful Easter eggs by drawing on them, dyeing them, and adding stickers is a fun, popular activity during the Easter holiday season.

Rhonda Schild, owner of the Outlaw Bar, turned this tradition into a fun contest by inviting the public to come in and spend time decorating eggs on April 4.

For an entry fee of $2, anyone—young or old—could sign up to compete for the best-decorated Easter egg! For the entry fee, everyone received two hard-boiled eggs to decorate.

Schild gathered up all of the supplies and set up a long table full of cups of colored dyes running down the middle. Markers, clear wax pens, stickers, gems, egg dippers, and egg holders were all set out for anyone to use as they wished.

Kids and adults came and went throughout the afternoon as they completed their artful eggs.

For the past 12 years, Schild has owned the Outlaw Bar and finds it important to offer activities to area kids and the community. She has had the Easter Egg Contest almost every year, as well as ornament decorating at Christmas and pumpkin decorating at Halloween.

The Outlaw owner shared that she doesnt require her employees to work during the holidays, only if they want to. A few years, she wasnt able to have the Egg Decorating Contest, as employees were home with their families. She is glad they were able to have the competition this year and finds hosting it fun.

Kids and adults were judged separately, and judging took place by community vote. All entry fees were paid back to the winners.

If you are interested in participating in a variety of fun activities, Schild invites everyone to participate in music trivia at 7 p.m. on Tuesday nights with Pass the Mike Entertainment, with prizes from local businesses and door prizes.

On Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m., there is bingo with a winner-takes-all format.

Twice a month on Friday and Saturday nights, Pass the Mike Entertainment hosts karaoke.

There are also pool and dart leagues—reach out to the Outlaw Bar for more information!
