BELLE FOURCHE—On Friday night, the Belle Fourche Chamber member businesses got together to offer the community a special treat! The annual Chamber Chili Challenge was held on October 17 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Whether your favorite chili is spicy, sweet, BBQ-flavored, creamy, or Hawaiian, there was definitely a chili you would enjoy! This year, $10 got you 17 different chilis to sample. According to Chamber Director Michaela Horn, participation numbers were up this year compared to last—there were 14 competitors last year.

It all started at the Chamber of Commerce office, where participants picked up their wristbands and a list of businesses that were open late with chili to try. Right in the Chamber office, Butte Volunteer Fire Department and Spirit of Cheer and Dance, Inc. offered tasty chili samples to send you on your way!

There were eight locations to stop at. A few of the locations provided a spot for two or more businesses to serve up their chili concoctions.

Additional places to stop throughout the evening included: Hitching Post Tap House, with their own chili, who also hosted Lee Capp, The Bearded Realtor, and his chili creation; Digits Nail Spa PLLC; Cowboys Too, who hosted Life Light Creative; Pearson Block House; Posy Palace Florist, who hosted Badlands Security; Highmark Credit Union, who offered their own chili and hosted Royal Spraying and A Royal Clean; and Rolling Hills Healthcare, who offered six different chilis—one created by each department.

As attendees made their way to all of the participating businesses, they soon shifted from tasters to the judges, casting their votes for their favorite chili creation of the night. A total of 141 ballots were cast, with last years winner, Posy Palace Florist, hosting Badlands Security, winning again for the second year in a row. They edged out Butte Volunteer Fire Department by just one vote.
