Second Annual Rooster Roundup Pheasant Hunt Set for October 2 to Fight Food Insecurity in South Dakota

DALLAS, S.D. – Team Buche Cares, a South Dakota nonprofit associated with Buche Foods stores, is proud to announce the Second Annual Rooster Roundup, a one-day guided pheasant hunt that begins at Cock Block Lodge in Dallas, South Dakota. Taking place on Thursday, October 2, 2025, the event will once again raise funds to support Team Buche Cares’ mission of reducing food insecurity for tribal and rural communities across South Dakota.

“The Rooster Roundup is about more than just enjoying a great South Dakota tradition. It’s about neighbors helping neighbors,” said RF Buche, President of GF Buche Company. “Each step we take in the field represents progress toward bringing healthier food options to families who need them most, and that’s what makes this event so meaningful.”

“It is important for Frontier Motors and our companies to donate to a cause supporting the end of food insecurity because no one should have to wonder where their next meal is coming from,” said Cody Hair, Dealer Principal for Frontier Motors and Presenting Sponsor of The Rooster Roundup. “Access to quality, nutritious food is a basic human right, not a privilege. I believe that by supporting organizations working to end hunger, particularly here at home, we can help create a more just and compassionate world—one where every individual, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to thrive.”

Hunters will have the opportunity to witness a powerful tradition, the Wóphila Ceremony, thanks to First PREMIER Bank/ PREMIER Bankcard. During this ceremony, members of the Oglala Sioux Tribe will present event sponsors with a star quilt as a symbol of gratitude, honoring their commitment to expanding access to healthy food and supporting families across South Dakota.

“First PREMIER Bank/PREMIER Bankcard is proud to support this great cause as Team Buche Cares continues to address food insecurity issues with rural populations including the nine reservations in South Dakota,” said Miles Beacom, CEO of PREMIER Bankcard.

The Rooster Roundup includes an afternoon of guided hunting experiences, dinner, a short program, and concludes with a live auction.

BACKGROUND: Because of the success of last year’s Rooster Roundup, Team Buche Cares was able to donate 100,000 pounds of turkey to 121 communities, including all nine South Dakota reservations, helping families celebrate the holiday season.
