Belle Fourche News

The yearly festivities of the 106th annual Black Hills Roundup have begun! Last night’s Ranch Rodeo and Mutton Bustin’ kicked off this year’s activities. Before the Ranch Rodeo, the Miss Black Hills Roundup Queen Coronation crowned a new queen as spectators enjoyed food from the Community BBQ. The Cowboy Band also provided live music, and will be playing live music every day of the Roundup.

Tonight, July 2, marks the first performance of the PRCA rodeo, which will start at 7 p.m., after the second round of Mutton Bustin’ at 5:45. Fireworks by Fritz Carlson will decorate the sky and live music and a dance will take place after the rodeo. Tonight’s rodeo theme is Chutes for Charity Night.

Championship Pro Rodeo is the stock contractor for the rodeos. Announcers Steve Goedert and Andy Seiler will inform and entertain fans during each performance. Rodeo Clown & Barrelman Matt Merritt of North Carolina will provide entertainment and protection for bull riders. And each performance will be kicked off by Dana Bowman, a double amputee who will skydive into the arena and hype the crowd up.

As always, the Midway West Carnival is open on Railroad Street. At 8 p.m. Belle Fourche Cowboy Band will give a concert on the Library Lawn.

After you eat, stop by Pasque Ladies Fashion and check out the Fashion That Fits event from noon to 6 p.m.

Tomorrow, July 3, will be the second round of the rodeo starting at 7 p.m. with more fireworks and live music and a dance to follow. Be sure to wear something pink, as the theme is Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night!
