Bronc Bird Busters finish Spring Season

Busters Special to the Beacon

 The Bronc Bird Busters have wrapped up a very successful Spring Season with two team and two individual State Championships, as well as several team and individual Conference titles.

The Bird Busters 5-Stand team took top honors at Willow Creek Wildlife in Ft. Pierre on May 31st with a team score of 368 of 500 possible points, edging out Pierre TF Riggs High School by 2.

Payton Jackson earned the High Gun JV Male title as well as the High Gun – Overall title with a score of 83.

The Skeet team earned 1st Place at the Aberdeen Gun Club last weekend with a team score of 477/500, 26 points ahead of Pierre TF Riggs High School.

Alex Klocek earned High Gun Varsity Female with a score of 98, missing out on the high overall title due to the reverse-run tiebreaker rule.

Evan Jackson and Nathan Erhart took 2nd and 3rd place in the JV Male division with scores of 84 each, and the reverse run to break he tie. Nathan Bowers missed the 3rd place Varsity Male spot by one point with a score of 96.

Klocek also earned a 50-straight patch, with Nathan Bowers, Tacen Carr, Soren Kopp, and Gage Whitehead each earning 25-straight patches.

Alex Klocek took 3rd place in the Varsity Female division for the State Trap tournament on Saturday with a score of 95. Heith Brownell tied for 3rd place JV Male, dropping to 4th with the reverse run.

Sawyer Leitner took 4th place in the Novice Male division with a score of 84. Klocek and Whitehead earned 50-straight patches, with Bowers, Carr, Payton Jackson, and Brownell earning 25-straight patches.

In addition to the State Tournament titles, the Bird Busters were named Conference Champions
in Trap and Skeet, with Nathan Bowers earning 1st Place in the Varsity Male division for Skeet with a season average of 24.0 (out of 25).

Alex Klocek earned 1st Place Varsity Female and High Overall Female awards in both Skeet and Trap, with a season average of 21.5 for Skeet and 24.2 for Trap.

All-state honors were awarded to Nathan Bowers for Skeet, and Alex Klocek, Nathan Bowers, Gage Whitehead, Payton Jackson, and Tacen Carr for Trap.
