BELLE FOURCHE—Preparations are in full swing in the final month before the legendary Black Hills Roundup Rodeo and Fourth of July Celebration set for July 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5! The board members met with volunteers on the evening of June 4 to finalize arrangements.
One of highlights for the upcoming Fourth of July events is the new carnival provider, Midway West Amusements. Roundup Chairman, Dallas Conner has worked diligently to secure and bring a new carnival to town that will do right by Belle Fourche. For those that remember the past carnival mishaps, this carnival is sure to do better. It is a family-run carnival focused on safety, cleanliness and customer care. One of the ways that Midway West is different from past providers is that the owner is always on-site, watching over the carnival, assuring everything runs safely.
Midway West has a commitment to providing a wholesome, family-friendly atmosphere that is fit for a community like Belle. They maintain a drug-free workplace with certified and trained staff. You can get your tickets for $30.00 at Tri-State Museum and Center of the Nation Visitor Center, Pioneer Bank and Trust, First Interstate Bank, Northern Hills Federal Credit Union, Highmark Credit Union and Spearfish Area Chamber of Commerce.
The carnival will be in town July 1-5 during the Black Hills Roundup.
This year marks the first time that all of the seating for the Roundup Rodeo will be assigned. If you buy a ticket, you will have a seat. You will be able to go directly to your seat and watch the rodeo, entertainment and fireworks (on the 2nd and 3rd).
However, if you would like to select where you sit, you must go online and buy the ticket before the rodeo starts. If you wait until you get to the rodeo to purchase your ticket, you will be assigned a seat by having the computer pick the best available seat.
Seating for the July 3rd rodeo is selling fast and is expected to sell out, so it is suggested that if you want to attend that performance, buy a ticket immediately! There are very few general admission tickets for purchase, that will allow you in the rodeo, but will not guarantee you a seat. You will have to sit a the small bleacher area.
The Ranch Rodeo kicks off the celebration on July 1. The Ranch Rodeo Committee is taking entries and is asking that you get your teams entered as soon as possible. Teams consist of four people that will compete for cash prizes, trophy saddles, and custom silversmith awards in events that mirror the everyday work of cattle ranching.
The deadline to enter the Black Hills Roundup Queen Contest has passed, but there is still time to enter with a late fee if you missed the date. Take this opportunity to run for royalty and represent one of the best PRCA rodeos around—six-time Medium Rodeo of the Year! Competition is June 30 with coronation July 1.
