To be chosen as class Valedictorian or Salutatorian is a great honor. The selection is usually based on grade point average. For Lydia Main and Lily Nore, it was a close contest. Although Lydia pulled ahead in the end, each demonstrated her worthiness in myriad other ways.
Both Lydia and Lily delivered meaningful, heartfelt speeches on graduation day.
Belle Fourche High School 2025 Valedictorian Lydia Main expressed gratitude to parents, teachers, and mentors who have always been present. She described how Belle Fourche High School has provided a warm home for her and her classmates during the past four years. Lydia is the daughter of Jeff and Holly Main
Salutatorian Lily Nore thanked the teachers, staff parents and community for their commitment to her graduating class. She explained that the post powerful actions are the small things that make life better for everyone. “You matter. And you are capable.” She told her classmates. “We can have bad days but no down days”.
Both Lydia and Lily have exemplary track records academically and as leaders in school and community events.
For the past four years Lydia was also active in an extensive list of school and community activities. She was an active participant in FFA, soccer, rodeo, National Honor Society, Youth Leadership Team, Student Council, Best Buddies, Teen Court, Special Olympics, Shooting Sports, 4-H, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
While in high school, Lily was active in Basketball, Track, Student Council, Youth Leadership Team, National Honor Society, Teen Court, Choir, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, St. James Lutheran Youth Group, Book Club, and Special Olympics. . Lily is the daughter of Mark and Melissa Nore.
Both Lydia and Lily will attend college in the fall.
Lydia plans to attend Sheridan College to pursue a nursing degree. She hopes to finish at the University of Wyoming where she will specialize in pediatrics.
Lily has decided to attend Dakota State University in Madison, SD to study Special Education and Physical Education. At the same time, she plans to continue her basketball career.
