By Kandi Tonsager, The Bronc middle school track and field team competed in their last two events for the season, both in Sturgis. On Saturday, May 3rd they competed in the Jeff Smit Invite and on Friday, May 9th they ran in the Black Hills Conference Invite.
Highlights of the Jeff Smit Invite for the boys were; 6th grader Maddox Clarkson with a PR of 2:44.60 in the 800 meter race, and 6th grader Blake Willert with two PRs of a 22.35 in the 100 meter hurdles and a 37.79 in the 200 meter hurdles.
Top fishes for the boys were, 7th grader Bradley Drieske in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes, 7th grader Cole Mailloux in the 400 meter dash, the 7thgrade sprint medley team of O. Carson, G. Martin, P. Martin and Gunner Walding finished 7th and the 7th grade 4×400 team of Zane Baker, Elijah Beatson, Blaine Moke and Cole Mailloux finished 2nd.
Throwers with top finishes were, 7th grader Ben Raba with 5th in shot put and 3rd in discus, 8th grader Andrew Coyle with 5th in shot put and 8th grader Grant Hagen with 10th in shot put. High jumpers with top finishes were, 7th graders Max Coyle in 4th, Zane Baker in 6th and Elijah Beatson in 8th, and 8th grader Grant Hagen in 9th.
Long jumpers with top finishes were, 7th graders Max Coyle in 5th and Blaine Moke in 6th. Top finishers for the Lady Bronc middle schooler runners were, 7th graders Berklee Nore and Grace Long, and 8th grader Betsy Moore in the 100 meter dash, 7th grader Kylie Birdwell and 8th graders Ansley O’Brien, Betsy Moore and Avery Coyle in the 100 meter hurdles, 8th grader Ella Bryan in the 200 meter dash, 8th grader Ansley O’Brien in the 200 meter hurdles, 7th graders Grace Long and Kylie Bidwell in the 400 meter dash, 7th grader Layla Drieling in the 800 meter run and the 1600 meter run, and 7th grader Piper Curran in the 1600 meter run. 7th grade relay teams of the 4×100 Ruth Moore, Jacie Nash, E Olson and Malaya Rodriguez placed 3rd and the 4×200 team of Lochlin Tibbs, E Olson, Gracelynn William and Addy Burke placed 9th.
The 8th grade 4×100 team of Rhyan Knapp, Avery Coyle, Ella Bryan and Grace Long placed 9th. 7th grader Charlie Merjil placed 8th in the shot put. High jumpers with top finishes were, 7th grader Berklee Nore and 8th graders Ansley O’Brien and Rhyan Knapp, and long jumpers with top finishes were 7th graders Grace Long and Berklee Nore.
* * * At Black Hills Conference, 7th grade boys with top finishes were Bradley Dreiske in the 100 & 200 meter dash, Devyn Perschbacher and Ben Raba in the 200 meter dash, and the sprint medley relay team of Jaxon Linch, O Carson, Jackson Hodge and Maddox Clarkson, the 4×100 meter relay team of Cole Mailloux, Max Coyle, Ben Raba and Bradley Drieske (also a season best finish time), and the 4×400 meter relay team of Cole Mailloux, Zane Baker, Blaine Moke and Bradley Dreiske (also a season best time).
7th grade thrower top finishes were Kasen Lang in the discus Ben Raba in both the discus and shot put. Jumpers were Max Coyle, Zane Baker and Elijah Beatson in the high jump and Max Coyle and Blaine Moke in the long jump. 8th grade top finishes were, Rylan Gross in the 100 meter and 200 meter hurdles, Conner Kukla in the 200 meter dash, the 4×100 meter relay team of Maliki Rodriguez, Andrew Coyle, Owen Hatling and Reven Audiss, high jumper Grant Hagen, shot put throwers Andrew Coyle, Grant Hagen and Owen Hatling and discus throwers Reven Audiss and Owen Hatling.
