By Kandi Tonsager, On Friday May 2 and Saturday May 3rd a select group of qualifiers from the Bronc track and field team competed in events at the prestigious Howard Wood Invite in Sioux Falls South Dakota. Qualifiers included; boys 4×100 team of Slater Humbracht, Tegan Fredrickson, Gavin Pearson and Kashton Le LaCheur, boys 4×200 team of Caeyn Howard, Tegan Fredrickson, Gavin Pearson and Kashton Le LaCheur, boys 4×800 team of Lennon Clarkson, Odin Walding, Nathan Hudson, and Gavin Pearson, and individual qualifiers, Lennon Clarkson in the 3200 meter run and Gavin Pearson in the 400 meter dash.

For the Lady Broncs; the 4×100 and 4×200 team both with sprinters Jazlyn Ol-son, Mikka Dunavant, Mya Nowowiejski and Kailey Nowowiejski, 4×400 team of Jazlyn Olson, Mika Dunavant, Kailey Nowowiejski, and Rhys Pearson, 4×800 team of Lia Mundt, Emma Nehl, Misty Drieling and Rhys Pearson, the sprint medley team of Jazlun Olson, Mya Nowowiejski, Kailey Nowowiejski, and Rhys Pearson.

Individual qualifiers were Lia Mundt in the 3200 meter run and 1600 meter run, and Chloe Meril in the javelin throw.

The Broncs ran great races against new and tough competition on the Eastern side of the state.

Many were hanging within seconds of breaking new PRs and school records. The Lady Bronc sprint medley team placed 7th and set a new school record, the ladies 4×100 team placed 6th and in the 4×200 the relay team placed 5th. The ladies 4×800 team had a huge PR taking 22 seconds off their previous best for a 10:28.97 finish and moved into the #18 ranking for South Dakota.
