BELLE FOURCHE—Ready, set, go was announced through the megaphone to mark the beginning of the Center of the Nation Business Association’s (CONBA) annual Easter Egg Hunt on the morning of Saturday, April 12.
The anticipation was building as kids stood on the side, gazing at all of the eggs scattered around the open grass. When the go signal was given, children ran out and started picking up colorful eggs filled with treats. After all of that suspense, the event was over in a matter of minutes. But during those few minutes Belle Fouche area kids were having a blast—all smiles and laughter as they ran around and scooped up eggs.
Afterwards the youngsters ran back to their family and friends to show off all of the eggs and prizes they had gathered and they all sat down and opened up the eggs. In order to save money on eggs for future Easter Egg Hunts, CONBA asks for the eggs to be returned. “There are cardboard boxes next to the fence for them to drop the eggs into once they empty them or they can bring them to the AmericInn Hotel later,” said Stacey Raisanen, CONBA.
Thanks to the generous donations from the community over 7,000 filled eggs were placed around the soccer fields for children to find. “We got 1,980 stuffed eggs from Monument Health, and then we also stuffed about 5,800 eggs, so we had over 7,000 eggs for the event,” said Raisanen.
This year the hunt was held at the Belle Fourche Soccer Complex. Kids of various ages lined up around the soccer fields in their designated locations for each age group. All the areas were marked. The groups were divided into special needs; age 0-2; age 3-4; age 5-6; age 7-8 and age 9-10.
