BELLE FOURCHE—Belle Fourche Livestock Market took a break during their regular Thursday sale to spend a few minutes celebrating the new owner, Travis Linch, in a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on April 3.

Taking center stage, right down in the sale ring, cattle made way for family and friends to gather. The Belle Fourche Chamber of Commerce unspooled ribbon and handed Linch an extra large pair of scissors for him to use to cut the ribbon.

The symbolic act kicks off the official beginning of the sale barn under Linch’s tutelage. “It’s really kind of overwhelming—kind of exciting though—to see the support of the whole community and surrounding areas, truly,” explained Linch. “I mean this is a lot of people, it’s pretty cool!”

Linch took over the sale barn in the beginning of 2025 and has been working hard to learn the ins and outs of the business. “I just hope to keep the support and keep the local economy thriving and I just want to support the town as well as they support me,” said Linch.

The kitchen served pie and coffee to all of those in attendance.

Belle Fourche Livestock Market a vital part of cattle country and has been serving the Tri-State area since 1935.
