BELLE FOURCHE—The Belle Fourche Rec Center was transformed into an evening in Paris complete with an Eiffel Tower taking center stage for the Father Daughter Dance on the evening of March 8.
For the fourth year in a row Belle Silver Lining planned and prepared a special evening for all of the little girls and their special escorts for the night, whether it’s a dad, a grandpa, or an uncle.
Mary Riley, Events Coordinator, said, “Anyone can sign up—father son or father daughter. We get mainly ages from grade school, middle school and there are a few junior high age here.”
The evening is open to anyone in the area wanting to participate. “It’s open up to the public. We get everybody from the Northern Hills into Wyoming. We’ve gotten people from out-of-state come in because they’re visiting the area,” said Riley.
The event is growing each year, so much so that a new location was needed. “This is our fourth year, but this is our first year at the Rec Center! We have outgrown the Community Hall in Belle Fourche because we are close to 200 people attending,” explained Riley.
An action packed evening was planned, beginning at 6:00 p.m. with social time and professional photographs to capture the special occasion. Grand March started at 6:30 p.m. “For the Grand March they line up in the hallway and come through the entrance and follow the balloons. They will speak in the mic—daughters will get to announce their name and their dad’s name. They then walk down toward the Eiffel Tower, it will be lit up,” said Riley.
Chicken Alfredo with breadsticks was on the menu with a salad and a cupcake for dessert. Following dinner the attendees danced the night away.
The dance is a yearly fundraiser for Belle Silver Lining whose mission is to Celebrate, Embrace and Serve Older Adults for the Betterment of Our Community. Around 200 tickets were sold at $35.00 each.
